Default Returning... after a long time.

Hello! Geez, it's been ages since I've been here, had to make a new account =P

Anyway. I used to play GW pretty heavily back in the day. I started losing interest around the time Factions came out and never finished that campaign. I got interested again when Nightfall was released so I bought that one but, to make a long story short I never got around to playing it.

So I have everything but Eye of the North and am really interested in starting back up, but I have a few concerns.

First of all, how active is the community these days? I assume Prophecies content is barely treaded on these days so how hard would it be to play through the campaign without heroes. It's not that I don't have heroes but, what's the point of an MMO without the second 'm'?

Secondly, by the time I left there were a lot of new additions (factions, alliances, heroes all that jazz...) that seemed kind of overwhelming but, I was a youngster 5-6 years ago so maybe it wasn't as overwhelming as I recall, (and I've been playing WoW and other MMOs since then) so basically my second question is how difficult would you say it is to get into the meat of the game?

And finally... How much am I missing out on if I don't get Eye of the North right away?

Thanks guys!

I suggest you try it, important is not to rush through contents and learn to enjoy the game as it was meant to from the beginning.

There's been a lot of changes, too many to list here. One of them is obviously skills, many who have been buffed to the brink of being overpowered. This can make the game easier or harder depending on the foes you meet.

I do suggest you get Eye of the North though for several reasons. It gives you dungeons which can be a fun diversion, it's a place where you can still find many people, and there's heroes and PvE skills. And most important of all, it allows you to record your progress in Hall of Monuments which will be your legacy if you decide to continue with Guild Wars 2.

The second "m" will require a guild. There are a lot of players around, but most have finished the campaigns and are either farming or doing hard mode with heroes. There are still active guilds, just find one.

You definitely need a guild in order to play with other people.

I would recommend getting "Eye of the North". It has more heroes, PVE skills and dungeons. The best graphics in the game are in "Eye of the North". It also has the lead in to Guild Wars 2 e.g. new races.

A lot skills have been buffed. Normal mode is actually quite easy now. The game is a lot easier than it was when you first played. If that bores you, you always have the option to play hard mode.
